GIV Showcase!

The fun stuff I learned!

a croquet slash golf course, incorporating details from both games. Our design in this picture has a bridge with water made out of fake blue petals, balloon trees, and an upward slope at the end. You can also see the mess around it from the work.

We made a Mini-CroGolf Course!

Governer's Institutes of Vermont has been such a fun experience for me. I made a lot of friends and learned a lot of neat things that I'm really excited about. One of my favorite parts is the mini golf/croquet we're still in the process of making. It's really cool!

We started the design process by making really really quick sketches and sharing them among our little group. Then we chose the best ideas and morphed them into one initial (tiny) paper model.

A few days later, the real prototyping process began, using cardboard and real materials. Our idea was to make a bridge and hill, with trees and a hole at the end that requires a little skill to get in just right. We're still adding the polishing details!

A few other cardboard designs, using cut up pool noodles. There is a girl painting designs on hers as well.

BALLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONS!!!!!

A bunch of kids working on their balloon towers, using only tape and balloons.

Balloon Tower design challenge.

One of the first things we did when we came to GIV was a balloon tower design challenge. In this challenge, your prechosen group was required to build the tallest tower possible... using only duct tape and balloons. That's it. I thought we did a great job, but somehow we placed 9th out of 10. Ah well. It was really fun anyway!

Zoomed in on a kid in a Hawaiian shirt.

Romeo, Romeo. Where art thou Romeo.

Originally known as Hawaiian Shirt Kid, Ronan/Romeo (as we have come to call him) caught the eyes of many of us kids, and many of us would snap pictures of him in the auditorium and send them in the Discord channel. It was hilarious.
